Today… might be the most important day of the year. Not only for America, but for the world. Because, with the major influence the United Stated have (and believe to have), their elections are more of a world-matter than something ‘local’ only. Four years ago, I was a firm supporter of Obama and now that I am actually here in the States and experience everything up close, this time I am again for Obama. People may blame him for not having done enough in the four years that he’s been in office now, and that he did not live up to what he promised during his campaign.., but bear this in mind: Bush played around with America’s money (or shall I say China’s money?), created huge deficits and conflicts not only outside the US but also within. Obama has to clean up this mess during one of the most difficult economic times in history while the deficits are still going up, partly as a consequence of Bush’s policy. Besides, all of his plans that got him elected (healthcare, anyone?) are being veto’d by all mean Republicans in Congress..
In my opinion, it is important to create a healthy society in terms of social safety, feeling of belonging (gay marriage) and rights to decide what to do with your own life and life (abortion). I think those basic principles are the pillars for an innovative society, what America (Republicans ánd Democrats) want, because it will move the country FORWARD. So please, Americans, do something good for the world today and vote for Obama. I wish I could.
Tonight’s results will affect the world, and I do not want to know what the future will look like with Romney being in office… You gave Bush 8 years to create a mess, now let’s give Obama 8 to clean it up!
